Are you someone who thrives on organisation, deadlines, and detail?  Do you enjoy keeping complex processes running smoothly and spotting issues before they become problems?  If you have a background in compliance, audit, project coordination or information governance then this could be the perfect next step in your career.

As an IT Compliance Officer, you’ll be working within the IT Service Improvement Team—a small, collaborative team within IT Service Delivery. The team leads on continuous improvement, problem management and user engagement across the IT Services Directorate, helping colleagues deliver high-quality services that meet both user needs and regulatory requirements.

In this role, you’ll help ensure that the directorate meets its audit, policy, and compliance obligations. Your work will support risk oversight, data protection and information governance across a wide range of systems and services.

As an IT Compliance Officer, you can expect to be involved in:

  • Coordinating responses to internal and external audits and Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, maintaining supporting evidence and tracking audit recommendations to resolution
  • Maintaining the departmental policy framework and catalogue, ensuring timely review, alignment with University governance, and accessibility for stakeholders.
  • Facilitating and contributing to the completion of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for IT Services systems and projects, supporting stakeholders in identifying and addressing data protection risks in collaboration with the University’s DPO.
  • Producing clear, accessible management reports and dashboards to support governance, audit, planning, audit and risk oversight

What will you bring to the role?

  • Demonstrable experience supporting audit, governance or compliance frameworks
  • Confident in using Microsoft 365 (especially SharePoint, Excel, Teams and Power BI/Lists)
  • Strong understanding of data protection principles and experience supporting FOI responses or data governance
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to manage sensitive information appropriately

What we can offer in return:

As a member of our team, you can expect a friendly, open and collaborative working environment and support in your development and wellbeing. You'll enjoy a range of great staff benefits including:

  • Hybrid working options allowing a flexible blend of office and home working (to be agreed in line with business needs)
  • 43 days' leave per year (personal leave, bank holidays and additional days allocated for the Christmas period, pro rata for part-time staff)
  • Excellent pension scheme with generous employer contributions
  • Corporate employee-funded healthcare plan, in partnership with Benenden Health
