About the Role
As a Welding Apprenticeship Instructor/Mentor, you’ll play a key role in shaping the next generation of skilled professionals for Rolls-Royce Submarines and the wider supply chain. You’ll design and deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment that blends practical technical training with associated theory, using a range of methods both on and off the job. Working closely with colleagues at the Nuclear Skills Academy, you will prepare engaging learning materials, demonstrate processes, and provide structured mentoring and coaching to ensure apprentices develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required for successful End-Point Assessment. You will make full use of state-of-the-art facilities, ensuring apprentices are trained to the highest standards of industry practice and safety, while also embedding English, Maths, and professional behaviours throughout their programme. This role is also central to the continued growth and development of the Nuclear Skills Academy, supporting employer engagement and the wider strategic agenda.
Interview Date: 20th October (On-Site)
About You
You will bring strong professional experience in welding, supported by relevant vocational qualifications and professional accreditation, alongside an enthusiasm for developing others. With experience of delivering, coaching, and assessing apprentices, you’ll have a clear understanding of what good practice looks like in teaching, learning, and assessment, and the ability to inspire apprentices to achieve their best. You’ll be a collaborative team player who values working with colleagues, employers, and stakeholders to deliver an exceptional apprenticeship experience. Ideally, you’ll hold a teaching qualification (or be willing to work towards Level 5) and have experience of assessment and verification processes. Above all, you will place the apprentice at the centre of your work, ensuring they gain the technical expertise, professional behaviours, and confidence needed to progress in their career.
