Are you passionate about supporting student wellbeing and making a real difference to individuals navigating complex and challenging circumstances? We are seeking a dedicated Mental Health Advisor to join our Education and Student Success team.

This outward-facing role offers the opportunity to provide tailored, professional support to students, ensuring they can thrive in their studies and wider student life. As part of a collaborative, specialist team, you will also play a vital role in guiding colleagues across the College on responding positively and effectively to mental health and wellbeing concerns.

What you’ll do:

  • Deliver one-to-one support for students facing mental health and welfare challenges, including crisis situations.
  • Build strong working relationships with academic and professional service teams to coordinate adjustments and interventions for students with complex needs.
  • Share your expertise with staff through advice, guidance, and training.
  • Contribute to health and wellbeing campaigns and initiatives that foster an inclusive and supportive student community.
  • Work closely with colleagues in Counselling, Disability Services, and Student Success to ensure joined-up support for students.

What we’re looking for:

You’ll bring experience of supporting student mental health within higher education, along with strong crisis management skills and the ability to assess and manage risk. Highly collaborative and resilient, you’ll be confident in building partnerships with both internal colleagues and external agencies.

Key to success in this role will be your ability to communicate with clarity, diplomacy, and sensitivity while managing multiple priorities calmly under pressure. An understanding of the unique wellbeing challenges faced by postgraduate art and design students, international students, and those from diverse backgrounds will be highly valuable.

Professional qualifications in mental health (e.g. nursing, social work, occupational therapy) are desirable, but not essential. We also welcome applicants with skills in CBT, coaching, group work, or wellbeing practices such as mindfulness.

Why join us?

This is a chance to contribute to a vibrant, creative academic community by ensuring students have the support they need to succeed and feel included. You’ll join a supportive, specialist team where your expertise and ideas for service improvements will be valued and encouraged.

If you are motivated to make a meaningful impact on the student experience and have the resilience, creativity, and professionalism to thrive in this role, we would love to hear from you.
