 The Centre for Health Services Studies at the University of Kent, is seeking a Research Coordinator to provide research coordination and support for the Health Behaviour in School Aged Children project (www.hbscengland.org HBSC).  HBSC is an international WHO sponsored project funded in England by the Department for Health and Social Care and the Department for Education that monitors and tracks changes in a number of health related attitudes and behaviour in young people aged 11, 13, and 15 years old. 

You will be responsible for managing and coordinating this large-scale project across all nine geographical areas of England and numerous schools. Key duties include tracking progress against the project’s Gantt chart, coordinating meetings and data collection periods, maintaining activity logs and time management of tasks, and overseeing financial processes such as expenditure tracking, invoicing, and payments to (PPI) members. You will also assist in reporting to DHSC and DfE.

As a Research Coordinator you can expect to be involved in: 

  • Coordinating all aspects of research activity in order to enable the delivery of the project and programmes assigned to the role.
  • Supporting with the delivery of the health Behaviour in School Aged Children in England which will involve establishing appropriate procedures for management and oversight of the project.
  • Managing the project’s financial budget, keeping track of incomes and expenditure liaising with Research and Innovation Services (RIS) at the University of Kent
  • Assisting the research team in their administrative tasks and supporting the smooth running of fieldwork in schools.

What will you bring to the role?

  • Undergraduate/first degree in a relevant discipline or relevant management experience of research administration and management
  • Knowledge of NHS or university-based research and development
  • Experience of providing research support within a health or social care field
  • Sound understanding of the standards governing research within the UK including GCP, Research Governance and Ethics, and familiarity with issues surrounding research data, confidentiality and data protection
