About the role:

The Institute of Ismaili Studies (IIS) is seeking a motivated and strategic Head of Programmes, HRD for the Jamat to contribute to the overall intellectual life of The Institute and its service to the Ismaili Community (Jamat). 

The postholder is responsible for steering, developing, and managing the delivery of several Human Resource Development programmes for Ismaili community institutions, particularly for, but not restricted to, the Ismaili Tariqah Religious Education Boards (ITREBs) globally. 

The ideal candidate will have experience of managing several direct reports, engaging in stakeholder consultation, and the delivery of multiple complex projects on time and within budget. 

What we’re looking for:

  • Leadership and management of multiple programmes and streams of work
  • Design, develop and deliver impactful programmes that advance the training for HR for the needs of the global Ismaili community (Jamat) system.
  • Demonstrate confidence and cultural sensitivity to talk comfortably with colleagues, community members and wider stakeholders, including academics, leadership and participants, being able to communicate sensitive and academically complex information in appropriate formats.
  • Actively contribute to the development and design of high-quality programmes, modules, assessment frameworks, events and teaching materials, teaching and learning strategies and certification/credentialling
  • Understand how IIS academic research and cutting-edge research in Islamic Studies and Humanities can be adapted for use and application in the training of the HR, as well as to meet the needs of the continuous development offered to existing HR
  • Understands the need for and how to ensure robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks are in place for each programme, as well as identifying outcomes and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Objectives and Key Results OKRs 

Desirable:

  • Master’s degree in Islamic studies, and or Education.
  • PhD in the relevant fields of Islamic studies or Education
  • Demonstrable substantial experience in teaching and /or curriculum development at the university level.
  • Available to travel nationally and internationally.
  • Excellent verbal communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability and fluency to speak with community leaders, scholars, teachers and educators of different levels, including representing the Department and The Institute at internal and external meetings
  • Commitment to and a strong understanding of equal opportunities issues within a diverse and multi-cultural environment and a demonstrable strong work ethic and sensitivity to working with community-based programmes
