Applications are invited for an enthusiastic Research Assistant to join the group of Dr Melissa Gammons at the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research (CIMR). This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a keen interest in cell biology to investigate the molecular mechanisms of Wnt signal transduction pathways and how these are disrupted in disease.
The successful candidate will receive expert training and guidance to develop their molecular biology skills using state-of-the-art tools and resources. The post-holder will be expected to work collaboratively and independently to achieve the goals of the projects. Good record keeping, high scientific integrity and a friendly, collegial attitude is essential.
Applicants should hold a degree in biology or a related discipline and have some experience working in a lab environment. You should be highly driven, keen to learn and you will have strong organisational and communication skills with the ability to effectively prioritise lab duties, both independently and as part of a team.
This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals interested in pursuing a PhD, as it is designed to provide hands-on experience in cutting-edge cell biology research while preparing the candidate for advanced academic studies. This full-time fixed-term post is funded by the Wellcome Trust for 3 years in the first instance and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to transition into a PhD programme based on performance and mutual agreement.
The Cambridge Institute for Medical Research (CIMR) is located on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and it is a collaborative institute at the interface between fundamental research and the clinic, with a mission to determine the molecular mechanisms of disease in order to advance human health.
