We are seeking to appoint a Research Development Manager (RDM) to join the university’s Research, Innovation and Knowledge Exchange Service (RIKE). This post will contribute to the University’s Research and Innovation KPIs, particularly in securing external funding for our research.
Working collaboratively with academic and support staff across the university, you will identify funding opportunities and support the creation of high-quality applications.
As an RDM, you will provide expertise and direction to help academics pursue funding across a wide range of funding providers, including the EU, UK research councils and trusts, national and regional agencies, the private sector and international organisations. You will also maintain an up-to-date understanding of the external funding environment and develop and maintain relationships with funders and research partners.
The role involves working with research groups and schools to develop multidisciplinary research funding bids and assisting with the production of nuanced management information to help drive improvements across RIKE and the wider university research environment.
Educated to degree level or with equivalent experience and 2 A-levels, you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You will also be able to work to deadlines and targets as part of a multi-functional team supporting the university’s strategic priorities.
We offer an excellent employment package including hybrid working, blending a mix of remote and on-campus working (dependent on work duties). Up to two days per week can be worked from home, following successful completion of the induction period, which is office-based.
The University is deeply committed to equality and diversity for all its students and staff. We seek to be diverse and inclusive, supporting individuals and groups to fulfil their potential and nurture a sense of belonging. We strive to be an accessible, inclusive employer, removing barriers for all. Find out more about our approach to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, including our commitments and accreditations as a Disability Confident Employer, Stonewall Gold Award holder and Top 100 Employer, Athena SWAN Bronze Award holder and Race Equality Charter Bronze Award holder.
