About the role
Bodleian Libraries are seeking to appoint a Senior Library Assistant to join the Enquiry Team in the Bodleian Library which is the largest and busiest of the Humanities Libraries and is made up of two iconic buildings: the Bodleian Old Library and Radcliffe Camera.
You will work as part of the Bodleian Library Enquiry Team to support users of the Bodleian Libraries and respond to a variety of enquiries about the services and collections of the Bodleian Old Library and the Radcliffe Camera as well as providing information about facilities elsewhere in Oxford. You will also work in a variety of staff points and on a rota basis and will help staff the Live Chat and Bodleian Print, Copy and Scan services.
This is a permanent, full-time post, working 36.5 hours per week.
This role involves lifting and carrying books and pushing a trolley (as the post requires daily shelving of material).
About You
You will be educated to A-level or equivalent standard and you will have relevant experience of enquiry work in an academic library. You will have a strong customer service philosophy and excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing. Good time management skills and a proven ability to work flexibly and collaboratively in and across teams are also essential.
