THE RON THOMPSON RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP IN ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE

The duration of the Fellowship will be for three years. The holder will be encouraged to do a limited amount of teaching for the College, in the form of up to six hours per week of undergraduate supervision (small group teaching) of topics relevant to their own research, during the twenty teaching weeks of the academic year, and will receive additional payment for these supervisions; but would require the permission of the Governing Body to undertake other paid work. The stipend will be £32,080 p.a., point 35 of the College scale with a pay award pending for 2026. Applicants should have completed a Ph.D. since 1 October 2024 or expect to have submitted their Ph.D. by 1 October 2026; they will be expected to present and defend a detailed plan for the postdoctoral research they wish to undertake during their Fellowship.

Research Fellows are offered subsidised accommodation, in College or in College-owned flats or houses; where accommodation is not required the Ron Thompson Research Fellow will be offered a study in College. Research Fellows, like every Fellow of the College, are members of the Governing Body, and enjoy a range of benefits and privileges as well as responsibilities. These include seven free meals per week at High Table, access to a Fellows’ Research Fund, and eligibility to apply for support for conferences or workshops Fellows organise in Cambridge.
