Ideal candidates for this post will have a primary degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering or a closely related area and a doctoral degree (level 10 NFQ) in Manufacturing, Quality, Mechanical, or Automated System Design.
The successful candidate will be expected to establish an independent research programme supported by extramural funding and to supervise postgraduate research students. The successful candidate is expected to be able to work independently as well as contribute to research centres/groups such as the Bernal Institute, and DPTC among others, to develop and enhance the subject area of manufacturing and process improvement across a variety of sectors. Candidates should have the ability to lecture to students in manufacturing technologies and industrial organisation and be committed to teaching excellence.
