Our research spans the fundamental molecular, cellular, and physiological mechanisms underlying normal and pathological cardiovascular and metabolic function. This work is supported by state-of-the-art core facilities and a strong emphasis on translational science, driving advances in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment across our campuses at Guy’s, St Thomas’, and King’s College Hospitals.

As part of King’s Health Partners, we benefit from a rich environment for basic-clinical collaboration and place a strong emphasis on mentoring and career development. SCMMS also hosts the British Heart Foundation Centre of Research Excellence at King’s, and the MRC/BHF Centre of Research Excellence in Advance Cardiac Therapies (REACT) uniting internationally renowned scientists and clinicians from across the School and the wider university to focus on both basic and applied cardiovascular research.
