Anna Freud is seeking a Senior Programme Officer to join our world-leading mental health charity for children, young people and their families. What we offer

We offer a range of staff benefits. You will join our Postgraduate Education Support Services (PESS) team, with a growing programme portfolio and increasing number of students. We work closely with University College London (UCL) to deliver programmes, therefore you will have the unique opportunity to work across several internal and external departments in a world-leading Higher Education establishment as well as a renowned children’s mental health charity.

What you’ll do

You will provide high-level administrative leadership, supporting the delivery of programmes and ensuring they meet UCL academic standards. You will oversee key student and programme lifecycle processes, manage complex student casework, lead and develop junior staff, and support programme amendments and enhancements.

What you’ll bring

Essential skills and experience:

  • Higher Education expertise: strong understanding of academic regulations and postgraduate education, backed by a degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Administrative and operational skills: extensive experience in higher education administration, with the ability to manage complex programme structures and improve systems and processes.
  • Stakeholder and team management: proven ability to manage relationships with diverse stakeholders, handle sensitive student casework, and lead junior staff effectively.
  • Communication and organisation: excellent written and verbal communication skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure.
  • Commitment to service and inclusion: a proactive, student-focused approach with a strong commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in education.

Key details

Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week): usual working hours are Monday to Friday, 09:00-17:00.

Salary: £38,000 per annum FTE, plus 6% contributory pension scheme.

Location: Hybrid working (a mixture of onsite and home/remote working). Staff are working onsite for at least 20% of their working hours at our London site (4-8 Rodney Street, London N1 9JH).

Contract type: Fixed-term, 12 months.
