We are a world class research-intensive university. We deliver teaching and learning of the highest quality. We play a leading role in economic, social and cultural development of the North East of England. Attracting and retaining high-calibre people is fundamental to our continued success.

The Role
Would you relish the opportunity to work as part of a dedicated team, delivering first-class, specialist biobanking services for medical research?

Access to human tissue samples is essential for many aspects of translational medical research undertaken in the Faculty of Medical Sciences. The Newcastle Central Biobank Facility delivers specialist biobanking services to researchers within the University, and to external customers, to facilitate high quality research.

The main purpose of the Tissue Bank Coordinator is to manage the collection of human tissue as a valuable biological resource for medical research. The Tissue Bank Coordinator is responsible for promoting a single ethical framework, to facilitate a harmonised and controlled approach to sample collection, rationalising processes, and meeting regulatory requirements.

This is a full-time role, available for 12 months. We would welcome requests for flexible working; blended working opportunities to work remotely as well as on campus may be considered.

This is an exciting opportunity to facilitate translational research. Informal enquiries are welcomed and should be addressed to Amy Peasland, the Central Biobank Facility Manager (Amy.Peasland@ncl.ac.uk) or Emma Raine, the NIHR BioResource Manager (Emma.Raine1@ncl.ac.uk).

To apply for this position, we will need a copy of your CV and ideally a covering letter, which should outline how you are suitable for the role, with a particular focus on the essential criteria in the knowledge, skills and experience section (available on the university's website, accessed by the 'Apply' button).

Please note that if you are successful to this role, you will require medical clearance before you can commence in the role.
