Applications are invited for a new course coordinator post at the University of Cambridge Department of Medicine, to be appointed by November 2025. The primary responsibility of this role will be to provide support to the Course Director for a new MPhil course, the MPhil in Translational Medical Research which will welcome students in October 2026.
The postholder will play a key role in supporting the course director in delivering and managing the academic and research components of the MPhil in Translational Medical Research. The post-holder will also be the first point of contact for prospective applicants and current students on the course. In this capacity and through complementary activities, the postholder will champion and develop the teaching and research profiles of the Department of Medicine.
The MPhil in Translational Medical Research aims to train the next generation of scientists and practitioners in translational medicine. The course will provide an exceptional hands-on experience in state-of-the-art research complemented by a strong foundation of lectures, practical courses, literature reviews, and transferable skills workshops delivered by internationally recognized experts. The long-term aim is to generate research outputs of the highest quality with positive impacts on clinical practice and patient wellbeing. The course coordinator will form a key hub in the MPhil team, liaising with admissions, communications, teaching and other administrative staff amongst others.
Applicants must be educated to A level standard/NVQ level 3 or equivalent post-16 level of education or have an equivalent level of practical experience.
Applicants should have a record of working in an administrative role (paid or voluntary) and of demonstrating accuracy, attention to detail and organisational skills. Proficiency in working with Microsoft Office. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
Experience in working in the field of higher education and a knowledge of postgraduate education at the University of Cambridge are highly desirable. The successful candidate will be supported to develop in the role and take on further responsibilities where appropriate.
Fixed Term: The appointment will be made on a 3-year fixed term basis in the first instance, with the possibility of extension in the future.
