We are seeking a motivated Research Associate/Assistant to join the Plasticity Lab, led by Dr Cassandra Sampaio-Baptista, to support a Wellcome Trust-funded project. The post-holder will play a key role in leading a research program using advanced 7T MRI methods to investigate how brain activity and neurochemical levels regulate myelin metrics and whether interventions targeting myelin can improve cognitive-motor function as we age.

We welcome applicants with a strong background cognitive neuroscience or a similar field and experience in MRI and/or MEG data acquisition and analysis, MRI software (FSL, SPM), and behavioral tasks acquisition and analysis.

This is a full-time, 3-year post offering excellent training opportunities, including a minimum of 10 CPD days annually. This post will provide excellent opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations, and the post-holder will work closely with researchers based at the School of Psychology and Neuroscience and at the Imaging Centre of Excellence (ICE).

The plasticity lab is an interdisciplinary group that studies how the brain adapts to experiences such as skill learning, as well as to biological processes like ageing. The lab employs a cross-species, multidisciplinary approach, integrating MRI, behavioral interventions, transgenic models, and brain stimulation.

The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the formulation and submission of research publications and research proposals as well as help manage and direct this complex and challenging project as opportunities allow.

The lab is committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion, and supports career development for all team members.

Within the School of Psychology & Neuroscience, we celebrate diversity and intersectionality by promoting profiles of LGBTQ+, ethnic minority, and neurodiverse staff and engage in work to decolonise and diversify our curriculum.
