The School of Medicine opens in September 2026, and is based on the founding vision of social accountability where human values, excellence and social purpose are guiding principles for the new School. The curriculum is based on our contingent partner, University of Lancashire and is split into Phase 1 (years 1 and 2) and Phase 2 (years 3-5).
This is a career defining opportunity to be part of a new groundbreaking School of Medicine. We are seeking a forward thinking, experienced secondary care educational leader with substantial experience in all aspects of higher education and pedagogic design to join the new School.
The Head of Clinical Medicine and MBBS Phase 2 will act as the Phase 2 Lead (Years 3 to 5) and will oversee the management and delivery of clinical medicine across the 5 years of the MBBS programme in accordance with the GMC Outcomes for Graduates and MLA, University requirements, and the contingent partner.
The role requires the postholder to work closely with the School of Medicine (SoM) leadership team, and the Head of Phase 1 to ensure continuation and alignment both phases of the MBBS Programme. The postholder will also draw upon their extensive experience to carry out research, scholarship, enterprise and engagement, teaching, leadership and management within the SoM.
The successful candidate will an experienced clinician and have extensive experience of UK medical education and the associated governance and quality assurance of an undergraduate medical programme. They will have leadership skills gained through their previous roles, and we would expect the postholder to be medically qualified, clinically active and registered with the GMC with a full licence to practice.
