Working for Technical Services and placed within the Institute of Education, you will be responsible for assisting the School in its art-related and similar activities. Working under the direction of academic staff and senior technical staff, you will help to maintain the School’s studio spaces, and stock cupboards as well as supporting the teaching of students, project work and the research conducted by academic staff.

As part of the position you will work closely with School staff to plan projects, and assess the resources required to achieve objectives. You will also work closely with students to help them achieve their learning objectives.

You will expected to feedback regularly to School and Technical Services staff regarding equipment condition, required investment and ways to improve the service.

You will be expected to develop positive working relationships with colleagues in all areas of the University and conduct yourself as a professional at all times.

This is a great opportunity for someone with an artistic background, but detailed artistic experience is not as important as organisation, dedication and a keenness to learn.

You will have:

  • A methodical and logical approach, with good organisational skills.
  • A generally good standard of education, to at least GCSE level.
  • The ability to work independently following standard operating procedures, to provide advice and guidance to students, to deliver results against deadlines and devise innovative and creative solutions to solve complex problems.
  • Ideally some experience of practical arts and/or working in a studio or workshop environment, and working with students.
