Saïd Business School is seeking a proactive and reliable Facilities Support Assistant to join our Estates Team. Reporting to the Maintenance Team Leader, you will help ensure that our buildings, facilities and learning environments are maintained to the highest standards and operate smoothly for students, staff and visitors.
This is a hands-on, varied role that combines maintenance, facilities support and customer service. You will carry out general building maintenance, assist with room set-ups, ensure the safety and cleanliness of shared areas, and support the wider team with deliveries, event preparation and security tasks.
You will be expected to work flexibly to meet operational needs, including occasional out-of-hours work.
Key responsibilities:
- Carry out minor repairs and maintenance tasks (eg painting, fixing taps, tightening fittings).
- Test life safety systems (eg fire alarms, emergency lighting) and record results.
- Prepare and reconfigure rooms for lectures, conferences and meetings.
- Open and lock up buildings, ensuring site security and safety.
- Keep communal areas, entrances, and pathways clean and safe.
You will have strong DIY and general maintenance skills, with the ability to carry out a range of manual handling tasks both unsupervised and as part of a team. Excellent customer service and communication skills are essential, along with basic IT proficiency.
