Department
The Department of Government at Essex are world leaders in political science, committed to excellence in education and research.
The Department wishes to recruit a fixed-term Lecturer (education-focused) in Political Science until 28 February 2027, to provide full-time cover for temporary staff absence.
The Department of Government has achieved a Scientific Women’s Academic Network (Athena SWAN) Bronze award in 2020 and particularly welcomes applications from those who are or identify as female or non-binary, as they are under-represented in the Department.
Duties of the Role
This appointment will be teaching only, and we welcome application from candidates who have experience in delivering modules in Politics, International Relations and Conflict Resolution.
You will contribute to the successful delivery and ongoing development of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes as well as (co-) supervising undergraduate projects and MA dissertations. In addition, you will be expected to contribute to the administration and management of the Department.

Skills and qualifications required
Applicants will hold a relevant doctoral level degree in Political Science or allied field (or be close to completion of studies) or equivalent professional experience or practice. Substantial experience in teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, or demonstrable potential to engage in teaching and learning support in engaging and innovative ways is also essential.
