The BSU workshops provide support to students studying courses in Bath School of Art, Film & Media and Bath School of Design, but also more broadly across the university. Our Locksbrook campus provides a range of opportunities to develop technical support in our exciting areas of art and making.
We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Technical Demonstrator in Digital Print & Bookbinding to join our creative community at Bath Spa University. In this hands-on role, you will provide expert support and demonstrations across our workshops and studios, helping students and staff deepen their knowledge of the software and equipment used in digital printing and bookbinding.
About the Role
As a Technical Demonstrator, you will join an outstanding team of practitioners offering specialist support to students and staff across creative courses within Bath Spa University. You will use your expertise in digital print and bookbinding to deliver high-quality technical guidance and hands-on demonstrations, supporting students in developing their creative and technical skills.
You will have an advanced understanding of digital print workflows, from file preparation and colour management to output and finishing. Confident in using Adobe Creative Cloud software, you will support students in developing professional standards of digital artwork. You will also maintain and operate digital printing equipment, while providing technical and IT support for both practical and digital processes, promoting safe, effective, and sustainable use of the workshops and studios.
Your practical expertise in bookbinding will allow you to guide students through the complete process of creating well-crafted and imaginative books. You will demonstrate a range of binding techniques and ensure students gain confidence in using specialist equipment.
Strong communication and organisational skills are essential, as is a proactive approach to development, health and safety, and sustainability within the workshops. Working closely with individuals and groups, you will advise and assist on print and bookmaking projects, supporting both taught sessions and independent student work. You will be adaptable, collaborative, and capable of working independently or as part of a team to maintain the high standards of support and innovation that define the Locksbrook campus.
