About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable individual to manage our suite of three Containment Level 3 laboratories in the Faculty of Medicine. This is a pivotal role ensuring the safe and effective operation of high-containment facilities that support vital research in infectious diseases.

You will be responsible for:

  • Day-to-day management of the CL3 laboratory suite, including safety checks, access control, and maintenance coordination.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation, regulatory frameworks, and University policies and maintaining appropriate records.
  • Supporting researchers with cell culture techniques and other technical procedures.
  • Advising on risk assessments, SOP development, and induction & training for laboratory users.
  • Providing technical leadership and line management to support staff.

About You

You will bring:

  • Proven experience working in Containment Level 3 laboratories.
  • A thorough understanding of biosafety, health and safety regulations, and containment protocols.
  • Strong technical skills in cell culture and laboratory operations.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage people and processes effectively.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
