The University of Brighton seeks a practice-focused academic with expert knowledge and experience of Fine Art Painting practices. 

Fine Art is one of four subject groupings in the School of Art and Media. As a subject group it has an established history and comprise of highly respected courses, which place value on how practice is integrated with cultural and critical studies. You will be joining a staff team of practising artists and researchers, who bring their real-world expertise to shape the curriculum and the learning experience of the students.

The successful candidate will play an important and active part in developing practice and theoretical strands of learning within the BA Fine Art Painting BA course. You will also collaborate with students and colleagues to realise a collective vision. Central to this will be the ability to build a peer learning community which is both supportive and stable and at the same time challenging, vibrant and dynamic.

You will have:

  • A strong background in undergraduate teaching and a substantial research portfolio.
  • The ability to work as part of a team and to effectively time manage and meet pressing deadlines are essential.
  • A degree and up-to-date, sound knowledge of the subject including current professional/vocational developments.

The successful candidate will join the School of Art and Media Fine Art programme based at our Grand Parade campus and will be based within the Fine Art Painting team. 

This is a permanent, part-time post.

Online preliminary Interviews to take place week commencing 24th November and 1st  December, followed by on campus interviews, which will be scheduled in the week commencing Dec 15th 2025.
