Annual Leave: 25 days pro rata plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Location: College Lane Campus, Hatfield, University of Hertfordshire

Main duties and responsibilities

As an Academic Quality and Assessment Officer you will be undertaking a range of activities in relation to academic quality and assessment processes. You will be responsible for the preparation and documentation for the Boards of Examiners meetings, and organisation of Programme Committee Meetings, acting as a Clerk to both. You will provide support, advice and guidance to Schools regarding the completion of paperwork for the appointment of External Examiners, inviting them to Exam Boards and ensuring that they can access relevant Board of Examiners documentation.

You will co-ordinate the module options process and ensure the accuracy of information provided for students to make their choices. You will acquire expertise in your areas of specialism and provide guidance to colleagues, students and your managers, including the preparation of data and reports.

You will work as part of a central team and will have a range of contacts from within and outside of the Hutton Hub. In addition, there will be the opportunity to assist at key University events throughout the year. 

Skills and experience required

The successful candidate will have good numeracy, literacy and IT skills, including MS Office and experience with Excel. You will have a methodical approach with good attention to detail and be able to deal with conflicting priorities, working accurately under pressure to tight deadlines, whilst recognising and respecting the sensitive and confidential nature of the data you handle.

You will have the ability to record information from meetings in a variety of formats and communicate effectively with different audiences. You will be comfortable working in a team, but able to demonstrate initiative and to work with limited supervision, whilst having a can-do attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement. 

Qualifications required

Educated with a minimum of A-levels or equivalent qualifications or proven professional work experience.
