The role
The role is a communications engineer for the VMMO mission. Responsible for the design, development, and validation of the spacecraft’s communications subsystem, with a focus on the X-band (and higher frequency) transponder enabling direct Earth-Moon links. The role involves defining RF link budgets, selecting and integrating transponder hardware, ensuring compliance with CCSDS and ECSS standards, and supporting end-to-end system performance analysis. The engineer collaborates closely with payload, avionics, and ground segment teams to optimise antenna design, redundancy schemes, and radiation-tolerant component selection, while overseeing test campaigns to verify transponder functionality from LEOP through lunar operations.
About you
You will have a degree or masters in an engineering background with preferable specialisms for satellites and space.
