About the Faculty
The Faculty of Science and Engineering at Manchester Metropolitan University is dedicated to advancing sports science, engineering, computing, life and natural sciences through world-class research, education, and industry partnerships. The Faculty is home to five specialist departments and supports both undergraduate and postgraduate education in a state-of-the-art new building and a growing research environment.

The Department of Sport and Exercise Sciences is an ambitious department, that strives to harness the power of sport and exercise to make a lasting positive impact on the lives of the people from the communities we serve. The Department delivers an extensive portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across areas such as physiology, biomechanics, psychology, coaching, and nutrition, taught in cutting-edge teaching and laboratory spaces. The Department also has an outstanding research profile. Our staff lead and contribute to internationally recognised research groups spanning human performance, health and wellbeing, and applied sport science. About the Role & Team
You will be a passionate academic with an excellent and accelerating profile in educational innovation to join the department as a Senior Lecturer in Applied Sport Science.

Key Responsibilities
You will deliver high-quality teaching in applied sport science across our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, making full use of our outstanding training and laboratory facilities to provide students with both theoretical knowledge and practical expertise. You will embed applied, hands-on learning throughout your teaching, and you will play a distinctive role in developing and managing placement opportunities with sports organisations, high-performance environments, and health providers, ensuring our students are well prepared for their future careers. You will contribute to curriculum development, bring innovation to your teaching practice, and take part in wider initiatives that support student engagement, employability, and satisfaction.

Key Skills & Experiences
You will hold a PhD in sport science, strength and conditioning, sports nutrition or a related field, and you will bring significant applied or academic experience in strength and conditioning or sports nutrition. Accreditation with the Chartered Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (CASES), UK Strength and Conditioning Association (UKSCA), Association for Nutrition (AfN) or an equivalent professional body is expected. You will have experience of developing and supporting placement opportunities, employer engagement, or applied learning initiatives that enhance student employability, alongside a track-record of high-quality teaching in higher education. Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), or a commitment to achieving this within three years, is essential. Above all, you will be a collaborative and student-focused academic with the enthusiasm to inspire learners and the ambition to contribute to the Department's continued success.
