The Role

As a Pharmacist Prescriber in the role of Assistant Professor (Teaching) in Advanced Practice and Prescribing, you will undertake teaching and course co-ordination while supporting the development and delivery of undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional programs and other core activities ensuring students have an effective learning experience. Assistant Professors lead on aspects of the student learning experience including the leadership of staff teams.

Based within the School of Health and Care, you will work with and lead other academic colleagues to enrich the student learning and teaching experience to ensure, as appropriate, relevant aspects of research, enterprise and professional context are embedded in modules and courses.

Duties include:

  •    Lead the curation, adaptation, design and development of module and course teaching materials including Curriculum development.
    •    Work with clinical colleagues to identify areas of educational need and work with the Curriculum Lead to establish viable programmes.  

Qualifications Required

  •    Masters of Pharmacy degree.
    •    Registered Prescriber with or without Advanced Practice registration.
    •    Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
    •   Teaching qualification or extensive experience of delivering professional and/or university education.
    •    PhD / Professional Doctorate or active membership of appropriate professional body is advantageous.

Our Successful Candidate

You will have demonstrable clinical experience as a prescribing pharmacist and would ideally have a full MSc in Advanced Practice. As a senior clinician you will also have experience of teaching pre-registration and qualified colleagues at the equivalent of higher education levels 4-7 including the development and demonstration of best practice in teaching, learning and assessment consistent with our reputation and track record as a high-quality provider of teaching and learning.

An experienced team leader with good level of digital fluency, you will have experience using creative teaching materials for face to face and online teaching using a VLE.
