Main Purpose of the Role the Senior Lecturer for Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy (Assessment and Quality) plays a pivotal leadership role in shaping, delivering, and assuring the quality of the BSc DHDT programme at Canterbury Christ Church University.
The postholder supports the Course Director in ensuring that all aspects of teaching, assessment, and clinical training meet internal university standards and the requirements of the General Dental Council (GDC). They provide expert guidance on curriculum design, assessment strategy, and quality assurance to ensure an exceptional student learning experience. The role involves leading the development and implementation of assessment frameworks, maintaining robust quality monitoring processes, and supporting staff training in educational best practice.
Working collaboratively across campuses and with clinical partners, this role ensures that clinical governance, academic integrity, and professional standards are upheld. They contribute to operational management, resource planning, and the continuous enhancement of teaching and learning. The postholder also supports student admissions, progression, and welfare, promoting excellence and consistency across all aspects of the DHDT programme.
Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will be an experienced dental professional, registered with the General Dental Council, who demonstrates a strong commitment to quality assurance and excellence in dental education. You should have substantial experience in teaching, assessment design, and curriculum development within higher education and clinical training settings.
You will have a deep understanding of GDC educational standards and clinical governance is essential, alongside the ability to lead on assessment and maintain academic integrity across programmes.
You will be a collaborative educator who can work effectively with colleagues, students, and external stakeholders to enhance learning quality and student experience across campuses.
Salary is negotiable within the advertised range. Additional benefits or compensation may be considered for outstanding applicants.
How will you work?
We are committed to supporting flexible methods of working wherever possible and this role is hybrid. Campus attendance will vary on a day-to-day basis and across the year but must purposefully align to the service being delivered and to the needs of our students, staff, and stakeholders. It is expected that the majority of your working time will be spent on campus.
Working pattern is flexible but must meet business need, the working pattern for this role will be discussed at interview.
