We are seeking to appoint a Research Associate in Power Systems Engineering. You will play a key role in developing advanced modelling and simulation techniques for power systems, with a particular focus on the integration of transport electrification into electrical power systems. You will work in interdisciplinary research areas like power, energy, and transport to develop net-zero energy and transport systems.
This position is funded by a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship, 'Digitalisation of Electrical Power and Energy Systems Operation' (MR/W011360/1). This is an exciting research project with strong collaboration opportunities that brings together the leading partners from academia and industry, including the power system operator, renewable energy operator and EPSRC academic communities.
You should have a PhD (or near completion), or equivalent experience in power systems, transport, electrical engineering or related fields. You will be passionate about developing models and tools for power system modelling and analysis. You will be motivated to extend your work into transport modelling and electrification technologies, and to improve the economic operation of power systems across electricity transmission, distribution, and/or microgrids.
You will join us as part of the Electrical Machines and Power research group in the School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, based in the Sheffield Control and Power Systems Laboratory (CAPS), led by Professor Xin Zhang as the Chair in Control and Power Systems.
