Main duties and responsibilities
The Administrator will undertake a range of administrative duties to support primarily the Retention Team Coordinator, but also the wider Herts Academic Skills subteam, and the other sub teams within the department where required. These tasks will include, but not be restricted to, monitoring shared inboxes, supporting the Retention Coordinator and work closely with retention specific data to support the retention team. The Administrator also has secondary tasks for other Education subteams, particularly the Technology Enhanced Learning and Digital Capabilities (TEL) team, and will provide general administrative support across the department as and when the workload on the retention team allows.
You will also maintain effective filing, storage and archiving electronic or manual systems with particular regard to quality audit requirements. You will acquire an understanding of the University’s Policies and Regulations, relevant to the area of work, ensure that the agreed customer service standards are always adhered to, and ensure effective communication within the department and between the department and other (central) departments of the University.
Skills and experience required
You will have good IT skills, including the use of MSOffice and databases and be able to demonstrate a good understanding of customer care, including a polite, helpful and confident telephone manner. You will be able to demonstrate a methodical approach with attention to detail, and the ability to work accurately under pressure to tight deadlines. You will have the ability to collect, process and present complex data and deal with sensitive material with strict confidentiality.
Qualifications required
You will be educated with a minimum of A-Levels or equivalent, or proven professional work experience.
