We are seeking a Research Assistant with experience in cell and molecular biology to work with our world-class research scientists to support the development and production of CRISPR/Cas9 screens in iPSC models, with a focus on neurodegeneration. You will join the Target Discovery Institute (TDI) at the Nuffield Department of Medicine.
With the guidance and management of senior members of the Centre for Medicine Discovery (CMD) /TDI CHTS Facility, you will be responsible for supporting multiple research projects in collaboration with internal CMD/TDI scientists. You will also be responsible for a range of tissue culture techniques, including but not limited to, the maintenance of mammalian tissue cultures, including immortalized and iPSC-derived cell lines. Other duties will include responsibility for lentiviral library production, lentiviral transductions, molecular biology techniques, and high-content imaging, in support of large-scale CRISPR/Cas9 genome-wide screens.
It is essential that you hold a BSc in Biochemistry, Cell/Molecular Biology or a related subject. You will have experience with all aspects of mammalian tissue culture, especially in iPSC/primary cells, and you will be able to support scientists in a large research group with general tasks which promote efficient laboratory research group management. It is essential that you have experience with Lentiviral handling or CRISPR library production and cell transduction, and experience with bacterial transformation and plasmid maxiprep. Experience with data processing, graphing and statistical software is highly desirable.
