Department and Job Purpose
Working as part of a busy team, the Commis Chef will be required to assist the kitchen team with food preparation, producing food to a high standard from servery-style food for students and staff to fine dining for senior members of college and private dinners. To maintain the cleanliness of the Kitchen and all store areas in line with College guidelines.
The person appointed to this role must have a willingness to learn, be a team player and have a positive can-do attitude.

Appointment: This is a permanent full-time post and there will be an initial probationary period of six months. The appointment will be conditional on verification of the successful candidate’s ‘Right to Work’ checks and subject to the receipt of satisfactory references and medical clearance through the University’s Occupational Health Services.
Salary: College salary scale, Grade 2, currently £28,152 pa (£12.89 per hour)
Hours of Working: 42 hours per week on a shift system (7am-3pm and 11.30am – 8.30pm), with a 30-minute paid break, working two weekends per month on split shifts, and ideally the same day off each week if rota permits. A willingness and ability to adopt a flexible approach to working hours and duties is necessary.
The post holder will be required to work the hours necessary to fulfil the job requirements and subject to operational needs. A willingness and ability to adopt a flexible approach to working hours and duties is essential according to the requirements of the College.
Other Information: No smoking is allowed on any of the College sites.
