Our team comprises approximately 200 technicians across the University. We provide specialist support to undergraduate and postgraduate students and the student experience is at the heart of what we do.  

The services we provide underpin a wide variety of academic programmes and we deliver this support via specialist laboratories, workshops, design studios and contemporary arts facilities.  

Our technical staff provide a high level of expertise and technical knowledge, playing a key role in supporting students in their studies and project work.  

We also provide support for research, consultancy and knowledge exchange activities.   

We are a forward-looking service, committed to a culture of continuous improvement and service excellence.  

About the Role:

We're looking for a Technical Officer to join our Arts & Humanities Resource Centre at Manchester Metropolitan University. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a creative, hands-on environment and wants to make a real impact on learning and research.

As part of our diverse technical team, you'll help ensure the smooth running of the Resource Centre and contribute to teaching, research, outreach, and enterprise activities.

About You:

You'll bring specialist knowledge of art and design materials, processes, and techniques, and use this expertise to support students and academics. Your role will include providing technical advice, training, and practical instruction in your areas of specialism.

We're looking for someone with:

  • A genuine interest in technical environments
  • Strong communication skills and a flexible approach
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality service

You'll also have opportunities to broaden your skills by taking part in internal technical events and collaborative projects.
