Here at Sheffield Hallam University we are recruiting for a Lecturer in Film Studies for 6 months.

We are looking to strengthen our team with an inspirational academic with a passion for delivering high-quality learning experiences as well as substantial experience gained through teaching, relevant industry experience, or both.

The role will be embedded within our engaged and knowledgeable Film & Theatre team.

You will join a collaborative teaching team to deliver core undergraduate modules on the BA Film Studies and be supported to take on module leadership and other key academic duties, related to teaching, learning, assessment and student support.

You will have the opportunity to get involved with our research culture and contribute to curriculum development work.

To maximise this post in line with the academic year we are ideally seeking candidates able to start as soon as possible.

Film and Theatre at Hallam is a dynamic and supportive community of staff and students, engaged in collaborative research and practice, with one another, our local communities and our regional arts and cultural sector. We have strong links with Sheffield’s cultural quarter, from Screen Yorkshire, DocFest and The Showroom Cinema, to a range of smaller fringe and community organisations.

The Sheffield Creative Industries Institute at Sheffield Hallam University is home to over 50 undergraduate and postgraduate courses and a creative community of over 4,000 students and staff. We offer students a practice-led, research-enhanced learning experience where we challenge our students to achieve impact through their work and push social, cultural, environmental and economic boundaries.

Our graduates are confident, curious, enterprising, and responsive practitioners who recognise cultural diversity and maximise the opportunities their education provides them with. Graduates are world ready and work in careers regionally nationally and globally. They work for themselves in innovative and exciting businesses and for leading organisations, companies and cultural institutions.

We offer a diverse range of benefits and opportunities to pursue a rewarding and fulfilling career in a supportive environment.

You will be contractually enrolled into the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS) – one of the largest and most generous defined benefit pension schemes in the country.

Find out more about the TPS.

If you are, or have been, a recent member of the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) directly prior to joining us, you can choose to opt out of the TPS and remain in the USS.   Please contact the Pensions team to discuss options available.

The University may be able to sponsor the employment of international applicants in this role; this will depend on a number of factors specific to the individual applicant.

We welcome applications for job-share, part-time and flexible working arrangements.
