The role
The Assistant Technician will be part of the team responsible for the preparation, delivery and support of activities taking place in Teaching Laboratories in the School of Chemistry. We are a diverse and welcoming team that is passionate about delivering excellent service. The post holder will assist in provision of essential technical support in the laboratory and help to prepare the laboratories and maintain supplies to ensure the smooth and effective running of the service. The labs are in use for a range of activities through the year, providing service to a variety of laboratory users making this an exciting and vibrant environment.

This is a housekeeping role with a difference – cleaning, preparing, stocking and maintaining the undergraduate labs ready for teaching. You will have a conscientious, methodical approach to your work and calmness under pressure. Experience in a lab-based or in a higher education environment would be desirable but not essential. You will be highly organised with excellent time management, communication and multi-tasking skills, used to working effectively to tight deadlines. You will have the ability to follow procedures and complete tasks accurately, with attention to detail. You will need to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
Additional information
Work pattern: Part time/ 22.5 hrs per week
Shift pattern: 8am – 1pm Monday - Friday
