About the role
The lab of Prof Elena Seiradake requires a Research and Public Outreach Assistant to provide research and administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the laboratories and to support public outreach activities at schools. This post will be responsible for supporting specific research projects in the lab, managing administrative tasks, and organising science teaching events at schools. Contributing to maintaining equipment, cleanliness and upkeep of the lab space is also expected.
This part-time fixed-term post is funded by the Wellcome Trust for up to 12 months in the first instance.
The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available.
About you
You should have proven expertise in growing and maintaining HEK293 cell cultures using sterile conditions, as well as proficiency in molecular cloning techniques, including single-point mutagenesis. You will hold a university bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to social work or education (or an equivalent qualification) and possess experience in designing and leading regular science outreach programs for primary school students. Additionally, you will be a qualified Montessori teacher with extensive teaching experience and a strong background in supporting children with special educational needs.
