Introduction to YSJ University
Situated in the heart of the historic city of York, and with the addition of our London Campus, York St John University has a long and proud tradition as a distinguished higher education provider.
Our success is founded on the quality of academic teaching and research, our thriving campus environments, our professional and pastoral support, and our values of an inclusive, innovative and ambitious community with a strong sense of belonging.
The Team
You will join the Innovation and Technology Services (ITS) department, managing a dedicated Infrastructure Deployment Team in support of the technology programmes, working alongside experienced infrastructure professionals who focus on building, supporting and maintaining the university's digital infrastructure.
York St John University is embarking on two major technology programmes — a University-wide hardware refresh and Windows 11 rollout, and the full IT and AV infrastructure fit-out of our newly acquired King’s Manor site.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Infrastructure Deployment Team Lead to deliver these initiatives successfully. The post holder will plan, coordinate, and drive technical delivery across multiple teams, ensuring smooth deployment and transition into operational service.
This is a pivotal role for a technically strong project leader who thrives on collaboration, accountability, and seeing complex work through from concept to completion.
Working closely with colleagues across ITS and the wider University, you will provide technical expertise, direction, and escalation support throughout project delivery. You will lead a team of Windows 11 Deployment Engineers, manage suppliers, and ensure compliance with University standards and security requirements. This is a campus-based role in York, with occasional travel to our London campus. This role is fixed-term for 18 months.
