About The Role

Inspire Creativity. Shape the next generation of fashion image-makers at Falmouth University.

Join a community of educators and innovators at our stunning Penryn campus in Cornwall – one of the UK’s most creative and inspiring regions. We are seeking an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in BA (Hons) Fashion Photography to join our dynamic team within the Fashion & Textiles Institute (FTI). We empower students to think differently and create with impact - from fashion design to marketing, styling to photography, and costume design to textile innovation.

Our purpose-built studios provide an extraordinary platform for your teaching and creative practice. You’ll use industry-standard and technologically advanced resources – from location lighting to digital medium-format photography to 3D scanning and volumetric capture.

You’ll play a key role in shaping a course that sits at the intersection of fashion and image-making, contributing to a curriculum that blends theory into practice and practice into theory. You’ll engage with live briefs for students, maintaining links with prestigious industry partners such as MARFA Journal and Baron Books.

This is an environment where experimentation and critical thinking thrive. You’ll teach ambitious students who achieve professional success with organisations such as Studio RM, Kate Moss Agency, The Face, Rosco Productions, Elle, Dazed, Guess, and Sportmax. See our students’ work on Instagram.

Based in Cornwall, you’ll be part of a creative community with a longstanding reputation for radical and subversive artistic practice. The region’s striking landscapes and rich cultural heritage provide endless inspiration for teaching, research, and image-making.

About You

We’re looking for candidates with teaching experience, a Master’s degree or substantial equivalent industry experience, and an interest in developing their research profile as an early career researcher. Highly motivated and student-focused, you excel at guiding diverse cohorts in exploring fashion image making as a discipline, helping students unlock their full potential and develop innovative approaches to practice and research.

We are looking for candidates with the following skills/experience:

  • A comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of both conceptual and technical aspects of fashion image-making with an interest in immersive technologies.
  • Awareness of critical discourse associated with fashion image making, styling and production.
  • Advanced theoretical understanding of the field of image making, including its historical, aesthetic, social / political development and fashion contexts.
  • Portfolio experience / evidence of working as a fashion image-maker or fashion filmmaker.

This a permanent, full-time position working from Monday to Friday, in person and on campus.

The maximum salary for Lecturer is £44,746 per annum. Appointment to Senior Lecturer may be considered where a candidate demonstrates the appropriate experience and qualifications.

The closing date for the position is Tuesday 2 December 2025.
