About the Role
The postholder will provide support to academic researchers collaborating with international partners, where due diligence and compliance checks are required, particularly in relation to trusted research, export control and National Security and Investment Act. They will have acute understanding of the university reputational, environmental, financial, and geopolitical risks and be able to advise mitigating solutions. This role requires good knowledge in UK export control and national security legislation and communication skills in presenting complex legislative information with clarity to academic researchers.
About You
Educated to a bachelor’s degree level in physical science or engineering, you will have experience in research governance and/or compliance roles (ideally in Higher Education or industry compliance environment), expertise in conducting due diligence in relation to international partnerships, as well as knowledge of export control license preparation.
About the Department
The Joint Research Management Office (JRMO) supports researchers across Queen Mary, University of London and Bart’s Health NHS Trust. The JRMO International Research and Innovation team manage research and partnership development, pre- and post-award support, and research security compliance for EU and international research collaborations across all Faculties. It aims to provide strategic engagement of international partners and funders externally, deliver competitive and high-quality proposals and projects internally, and to ensure compliance with the UK, EU and international regulations and funder requirements.
