About us:

The School of Neuroscience is UK’s 2nd largest Neuroscience school with over 500 researchers and 200 PhD students. It is one of three schools at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience. We are ranked 4th in the world for the total number of publications in neuroscience, 4th for the number of publication outputs in top 5% citations in neuroscience, and 4th for top 5% citations in neurology.
 
Our academic and research staff are integral to our school. Their work is supported by a group of Professional Services staff members based within the 4 departments as well as at  School level. About the role:

The Business Operations Manager role is based within the School of Neuroscience and will work across the School with key stakeholders to provide high-level administrative management and support for key operational functions: Education, Space, and People. Working alongside the Senior Business Manager (Operations) the role is responsible for ensuring that policies and processes are working effectively, continuously reviewing these to ensure maximum efficiency in business operations. The role will have line management responsibilities to ensure activities are delivered to a high standard.
 
The postholder will develop and support a team, be proactive in identifying areas for efficiencies, with strong problem-solving skills & experience.
 
This is a hybrid role, requiring a minimum of 3 working days per week in the office across the two campuses.
 
This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
 

About you:

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills & experience:
 
Essential criteria
  1. Significant knowledge and skills of business operations acquired through relevant posts, demonstrating development through progressively more demanding work/roles, and the acquisition of appropriate professional or specialist knowledge.
  2. Working knowledge and experience of applying regulatory policies & procedures in a large organisation.
  3. Experience of producing reports, documents, information and/or business cases/planning for senior management to underpin strategic decisions & procedures, & implementation thereof.
  4. Solutions focused self-starter with experience of managing projects with multiple stakeholders, adhering to timelines, & ensuring they are delivered against.
  5. Highly proficient IT skills (including Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience utilising advanced digital technology in day-to-day work.
  6. Proven strong communication and interpersonal skills in order to receive, understand and relay specialist or professional ideas or complex information to various groups.
  7. Effective at working independently, and as part of a team, able to take own initiative & decisions with a proactive approach to complex problem solving.
  8. Excellent task management skills and ability to work under pressure in a busy environment with a high degree and attention to detail.
