UCA are looking to recruit a permanent, full-time Assistant Director of Finance (Financial Services).
As a senior member of the Finance Team and deputising for the Director of Finance you will provide professional leadership on all aspects of University-wide financial services having responsibility for Financial Accounting (including cash, accounts receivable and payable) and Payroll & Pensions.
The role holder will be required to liaise and build strong, working relationships with external stakeholders including Auditors, Banks, HMRC, collaborative partners and the Office for Students, ensuring that the University meets its statutory obligations in the key areas of financial accounting, audit and taxation.
You will have significant experience and detailed knowledge of Audit, financial control and regulatory reporting including FRS102, VAT and Tax returns and leading change to ensure processes are effective and efficient.
Experience of working within a higher education environment will be an advantage.
You will be able to use computer-based accounting systems and demonstrate Microsoft Office software knowledge and have considerable experience in in Excel. You must have commercial awareness with understanding of investment appraisal and be able to communicate with enthusiasm with stakeholders at all levels setting out clear and concise recommendations.
This is a very varied role and your ability to demonstrate that you can work under pressure to a high level of accuracy, Lead and motivate a Team and work collaboratively with colleagues whilst managing your day-to-day workload with minimum supervision whilst using your own initiative is essential to the role.
You will be a qualified accountant, e.g. ICAEW, ACCA, with four years post qualification experience.
