The Role

We are seeking an excellent academic to join our staff as an Assistant Professor / Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and in the International Engineering College (IEC). The individual selected for the position should possess a demonstrated track record in the field of Audio signal processing and associated applications as a teacher and researcher, and with a list of publications that aligns with their career stage. They will be expected to make a strong contribution to the teaching programme of the IEC in Fuzhou, China. While most teaching responsibilities will be based over a semester at the IEC, the candidate who is selected must also anticipate spending the remainder of the working year on the Maynooth University campus. Teaching duties will encompass both undergraduate and postgraduate programs, along with active involvement in supervisory roles for master's and PhD students.

Assistant Lecturer (2025) Salary Scale: €42,099– €71,998 p.a. (14 points)
This position is targeted at applicants within the field of audio signal processing and who may have started from either a computer science or electronic engineering degree. Within the MIEC programmes there are relevant modules in the area of Audio signal processing and Music application development. The successful candidates will play key roles in the development and enhancement of a European pedagogical approach to the delivery of the academic curriculum in the IEC.
The appointee will be expected to sustain and conduct research, engage in scholarship of quality and substance, and generate publications of an international standard. The appointee will be expected to build a strong research profile, that supports Maynooth university’s research strategy including affiliating to its research institutes where appropriate and working with colleagues on national and international research projects. The candidate will be expected to seek and, where feasible, facilitate links between research activities in Maynooth University and Fuzhou University.
The IEC provides substantial financial assistance for the faculty members teaching in Fuzhou. In addition, a professional programme (project) management team provides operational support to faculty, both in Ireland and China. The University and the department have also established mechanisms and funding to assist faculty in building their research profile.
