About the role

King’s College London is seeking an exceptional academic to join the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care as a Lecturer in Applied Digital Health (Research & Education).

This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in shaping the future of digital health within one of the world’s top faculties for nursing and health sciences. You will contribute to cutting-edge research and innovative education that harnesses digital technologies to transform health and care delivery.

We are looking for an individual with expertise in applied digital health, health informatics, data analytics, or technology-enabled care who can bridge research and practice. You will conduct externally-funded research, build collaborations across academia including the King’s AI Institute, the NHS and industry, and publish in leading journals. You will also contribute to designing and delivering engaging undergraduate and postgraduate teaching that integrates digital health concepts into nursing and healthcare education.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in a relevant field, demonstrate a growing track record of research outputs, supervise PhD and Masters students, and show commitment to inclusive, student-centred teaching. Experience in interdisciplinary or applied healthcare research, and collaboration with clinical or industry partners, will be highly valued.

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  • PhD or equivalent relevant to themes of the Faculty and this role
  • Evidence of ability to secure research grant funding, demonstrated by previous experience or track record, involvement in research active teams, responsibilities, plans, awareness of funding schemes relevant to Faculty research themes
  • Track record of peer-review publication and presentations that demonstrate international excellence or are world-leading in terms of originality, rigour, and significance in areas relevant to Faculty research themes and this role
  • Evidence of continued development in research methods in health services or clinical research, with increasing expertise in specific areas relevant to the Faculty (e.g. statistics, implementation science, co-design, trial designs, mixed methods study designs and patient and public involvement)
  • Experience of the planning and delivering high-quality evaluated education at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels with a strong focus on a high-quality inclusive student experience and success
  • Ability to work well as an effective and inclusive member of teams and networks and to share and encourage good practice in teaching and research and to inspire and motivate others, including in challenging environments 

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of co-leading/leading research projects, education activities or clinical service
  • Experience of and training in PhD supervision, as first or second supervisory and/or as part of supervisory progression panels
  • Experience of innovative and effective approaches to teaching, including distance learning, blended learning, digital learning and or simulation (virtual and/or face to face), with appropriate training completed
  • Registration as a nurse with the NMC or a registered healthcare professional with HCPC or General Pharmaceutical Council; or other international equivalence and an MSc or equivalent relevant to the themes of the Faculty and this role
