Location: MacLaurin Building, Bishops Square, Hatfield
Main duties and responsibilities
The role involves providing high-quality administrative support across the department, including project work and frontline customer service via various contact methods. The postholder will ensure adherence to customer service standards, maintain accurate student records, and support departmental processes around examinations, awards, and graduation.
Responsibilities include preparing documentation, managing data systems, liaising with internal teams, and ensuring compliance with University policies and legal requirements. The role also includes assisting with the organisation of exams and ceremonies and running these events on the day.
Skills and experience required
The successful candidate will possess strong IT skills, including proficiency in MS Office applications such as Word and Excel, and will be both numerate and literate. They will demonstrate excellent customer care, including a confident and courteous telephone manner, and have the ability to collect, process, and present data accurately. A methodical approach, attention to detail, and the ability to manage tight deadlines and conflicting priorities under pressure are essential. The role requires discretion when handling sensitive information, initiative, a commitment to continuous improvement, and the ability to remain calm and empathetic in challenging situations. Physical capability to carry out tasks such as lifting and handling materials is also required.
Qualifications required
Candidates should be educated to a minimum of A-level standard or equivalent or be able to demonstrate relevant professional work experience. While not essential, a degree-level qualification or equivalent would be advantageous.
