About the School of Art and Creative Industries
The School of Art and Creative Industries is a pioneering educational partnership that has recently marked its bicentenary, celebrating 200 years. With origins tracing back to 1825, the school of art is the oldest in England outside of London.
We are a vibrant, collaborative community where creativity thrives and transcend traditional boundaries between art, design and screen disciplines.
The Journalism Department has a well-established, international reputation for delivering high quality journalism and sports journalism programmes, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. We are proud of our strong recruitment, extensive industry links and positive graduate outcomes, but above all, the excellent practical training and academic education that our students receive.
What we’re looking for
We’re seeking an enthusiastic and talented Teaching Fellow to join our growing team and teach across our journalism and sports journalism programmes. If you have a strong foundation in journalism and a flair for storytelling, this is your opportunity to inspire the next generation of media professionals.
You will bring either substantial teaching experience in journalism or sports journalism, or significant professional experience as a practicing journalist with a proven track record of delivering professional training, combined with a proven commitment to education and industry training. Knowledge of NCTJ standards and/or expertise in social media storytelling is highly desirable.
This is more than a teaching role; it’s a chance to share your expertise, shape innovative learning experiences, and help students thrive in a fast-evolving media landscape.
This is a key moment to join a welcoming, ambitious, and research-informed university community that places students at the heart of everything we do. We value and invest in our staff, offering meaningful opportunities for professional development, scholarship support, and clear internal promotion routes.
