The Research and Knowledge Exchange Directorate (RKE) at the University of Cumbria is currently seeking an experienced Research Development Manager to join our expanding team. This is a particularly exciting time to join our Directorate as we are significantly investing in research and knowledge exchange infrastructure, strengthening our capacity and expertise and creating new opportunities for professional growth.
About The Role
Reporting to the Head of Research and Knowledge Exchange, the post holder will play a key part in supporting the University realise its ambitions to grow research income and enhance the quality and impact of our research portfolio. You will support academic colleagues across all disciplines to identify funding opportunities, shape research ideas, and coordinate the development, writing and submission of competitive grant applications to major funding bodies.
With substantial experience in research development and bid writing, you will lead on the costing and pricing of funding proposals to major national and international funders including UKRI, British Academy, Horizon Europe and others. As the primary point of contact for research bidding support, you will work closely with academics, partners and funders to facilitate high-quality submissions and strengthen our external relationships.
We are seeking a proactive and experienced individual with a can-do attitude and excellent communication skills. You will bring both expertise and enthusiasm to a role that offers genuine scope to influence the University’s research trajectory.
