About us
The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Reproductive Health Policy Research Unit (RHPRU) is a £5 million research investment over 5 years (until Dec-28) with the core purpose of producing high quality research evidence to inform policy regarding reproductive health in England. The RHPRU is led by UCL as a multi-partner collaboration involving the Universities of Oxford, Birmingham, Warwick, LSHTM and Hywel Dda University Health Board. It has a focus on addressing health inequalities and working in a co-produced way with people the work impacts. The RHPRU is hosted at the UCL EGA Institute for Women’s Health, whose mission is to bring together clinicians and researchers from a diverse range of disciplines to deliver excellence and innovation to make a real and sustainable difference to women's and babies’ health locally, nationally and worldwide.
About the role
This is an exciting opportuni ty for a motivated individual seeking to advance their career in communications within a policy research environment. The post holder will develop and implement a communication strategy for the RH-PRU. Other responsibilities include assisting with internal and external communications, helping to organise knowledge mobilisation meetings and events, and supporting the development and dissemination of accessible research materials for public and professional audiences. The role is a 0.5 FTE hybrid position, but we are open to discussing remote working options. This role is fixed-term with an initial end date 31 Dec 2026 in the first instance with an anticipated end of project of 31 Dec 2028. About you
Applicants to hav e experience in communications within policy or research settings, ideally in reproductive or women’s health, or a strong grasp of public-facing communications. Essential skills include public engagement, policy outreach, and excellent writing and editing, including creating branding templates across formats. Confidence in managing websites and social media, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are key. You should be comfortable using your own initiative and intuition when working independently, while also contributing effectively to a team. Experience in co-producing materials and overseeing outsourced content like videos or infographics is desirable.
