About The Role

This is a Fixed Term post until 31st March 2027 working full-time.

SeRP is recruiting a Research Software Engineer within the Research Data Science team to create innovative ICT systems and solutions to meet the needs of the research community

Working on world leading research projects across the UK and internationally the post holder will have the opportunity to undertake computing work at the cutting edge of Data Science. The post holder will be working within a dynamic and enthusiastic team, developing cutting edge solutions to meet the changing requirements of researchers in the Data Science field, including within the emerging field of secure data federation. The postholder will work proactively with other technical subject experts to provide input into planning and delivery of services and creatively develop and apply innovative solutions to complex IT related problems.

This is a post that will utilise hardware and software skills including Python, Kubernetes, GitOps, DevOps, network and hardware installations and monitoring, infrastructure dev and database management. It represents an excellent and exciting post for recent graduates or established IT professionals looking to build their reputation and careers. 

The post holder will utilise skillsets in Python, Kubernetes, GitOps, DevOps, network and hardware installations and monitoring, infrastructure devlopment and database management whilst working in a dynamic team environment where they can further develop their skills learning new approaches and methodologies such as SCRUM.

Welsh Language Skills

The Welsh language level required for this role is Level 1 - A little. The role holder will be able to pronounce Welsh words, answer the phone in Welsh (good morning/afternoon) and use very basic everyday words and phrases (thank you, please etc.). Level 1 can be reached by completing a 1 hour course.
