An exciting opportunity to work with a regional blue-light public sector organisation on an ambitious and innovative 24-month project developing new ideas, methodologies, and technologies.
Humberside Fire & Rescue Service keep the communities within East Riding of Yorkshire, Hull, North and North-East Lincolnshire a safer place 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Their key remit is to save lives, reduce injuries and losses through fire and other emergencies and reduce the number of incidents.
This KTP project will enable Humberside Fire & Rescue Service to gain significant insight into their impact on the environment through embedded carbon mapping capacity and capability. This will allow them to demonstrate leadership in their sector and give them the basis to reduce impact and deliver future continuous improvement and efficiency savings.
This project is a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) - part of a national, Government-supported initiative, which provides graduates with fast-track career opportunities through work on challenging technical & IT projects (for more information please visit https://www.ktp-uk.org).
The KTP project will be fully supported with expertise from the University of Hull and Humberside Fire and Rescue Service.
You will be supported to continue your personal and professional development throughout the project, acquiring new transferable skills that will enhance your employability; a £4000 budget is available to support this training. The project offers the potential to undertake a higher degree (although this is not a requirement of the post).
For the right candidate there are excellent prospects for obtaining permanent employment with Humberside Fire and Rescue Service at the end of the KTP project.

This project requires an excellent understanding of carbon creation, carbon mapping, carbon offsetting and carbon capture techniques. This will include working with and understanding large amounts of complex data, and analysing data with a complex supply chain. It is essential for the candidate to hold a graduate degree in a relevant business or environmental discipline. Time management and self-guided learning are essential. Good theoretical and applied knowledge of data analysis, including validating environmental analytical data to ensure data quality objectives are met. Good communication skills, project management, teamwork are also needed.
