Oxford Lifelong Learning in the Department for Continuing Education is seeking to appoint a Senior Course Administrator (International Courses and Projects)
About the role
The role as a Senior Course Administrator is within the Professional and Open Access Courses (POAC) section, focusing on Portfolio 4, which includes full-time courses, spring and summer schools, and English language project work. You will work under the direction of the Assistant Course Manager (International Courses and Projects) and report to the Deputy Head of Student Administration (POAC). You will be required to work effectively with minimal direct supervision, demonstrating initiative and strong organisational skills.
The portfolio currently offers two full-time programmes: the Foundations of Diplomacy Pre-Master’s Course (two 10-week terms) and the Advanced Pre-Sessional Course (one 9-week term). In addition, it delivers residential spring and summer programmes, including the Inspiring Oxford Summer School (six weeks) and the English Language Teachers’ Summer Seminar (two weeks).
This is a full-time position, available on a permanent contract.
About you
You will work as part of a dedicated administrative team responsible for managing and supporting the delivery of this diverse portfolio of academic programmes and events, alongside a range of bespoke short courses held throughout the year. The role also requires flexibility to provide support to colleagues within the team and across the Department as needed.
You will be required to work throughout the summer period and attend college-based summer school events between June and September. Please note that taking significant annual leave during this busy period is generally not possible. Summer duties will include daily attendance at lunches, participation in closing receptions and Friday evening dinners, registering student arrivals at college or Rewley House on Sunday afternoons, delivering welcome addresses, and attending welcome receptions and dinners on Sunday evenings. During this time, you will liaise regularly with senior departmental colleagues, principal tutors, programme directors, course tutors, college conference teams, and summer school assistants to ensure the smooth and efficient running of each programme.
