Job Description

DiveIn CDT is an innovative EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training at the University of Glasgow, focused on bringing together diverse teams to tackle interdisciplinary, mission-driven challenges at the forefront of research.

Doctoral researchers join the programme without needing a research proposal or a pre-arranged supervisory team. Instead, the programme supports the co-creation of research projects and the formation of research teams through a series of facilitated workshops. PhD Journey

During the 4-year PhD, students will take part in a bespoke training programme, supported with networking events and tailored coaching, and take advantage of the research and placement opportunities provided by our wide range of external partners.

The funding provided for these fully funded PhDs will include four years of both tuition fees and monthly stipend payments. The DiveIn stipend will be uplifted by £4,000 per annum above the recommended UKRI rate (in total, expected to be confirmed at £25,383 per annum for session 2026/27).

Part-time study options are also available.

Job Requirements

All applicants must have or expect to obtain a first-class or second-class honours degree, or equivalent, in a relevant STEM subject.

Applicants with a lower second-class degree or equivalent, must meet one of the following criteria at the time of application:

  • Have or expect to obtain a Master’s degree and have submitted a professional or academic reference at the time of application, which should cover your role on a research project.
  • Have a minimum of 2 to 5-years full-time, or equivalent, relevant professional work experience and have submitted a professional or academic reference at the time of application, which should cover your role on a research project.

  • Diversity Survey (completed online).
  • CV (prepared from a template, including your personal and contact information, academic qualifications and professional experience).
  • Application Statement (answering five questions and completing one exercise).

During this project cycle, DiveIn has received funding for 5 intakes, ending recruitment in 2029.
